PROTINUS Seed Nutrition

Technology Overview - Because a healthy start can make a world of difference™.

Getting a crop off to a good, healthy start is critical to its long-term performance throughout the season. PROTINUS delivers a strong start for your crop, helping it reach its full growth and yield potential.

PROTINUS applied to your seed results in:
  • Faster, more even emergence
  • Larger, more vigorous seedlings
  • Longer roots, greater root mass
  • Better ability to cope with early season stress
  • Larger yield potential

PROTINUS promotes early plant health and nutrition in two ways.

First, PROTINUS optimizes pH in the micro-zone around the seed, enhancing the natural process that roots use in nature. By adjusting the pH in the microenvironment around each seed, PROTINUS creates conditions for greater nutrient availability and optimizes uptake by the plant.

Agar plates showing lowered pH on PROTINUS treated seeds
Pictures above show agar plates immediately after PROTINUS treated seed at two growth stages were moved. Yellow area indicates where seed was originally placed. (Agar changes from purple to yellow when pH is lowered).

In addition, PROTINUS delivers nutrition right to the seed. Three key micronutrients important to early plant growth functions – zinc, manganese and iron – are included in the PROTINUS formulation and are immediately available to the growing seed.

How to Use PROTINUS

PROTINUS is easy to apply. It is formulated as a dry dispersible powder that is applied in a “tacky” state after liquid seed treatments. PROTINUS requires no extra wetting of the seed.

Application Rates
6 oz per 100 lbs seed (200 g/50 kg seed)
3 oz per 50 lbs seed (100g/25kg seed)
