Global Fertilizer Day Celebrates Fertilizer’s Role in Feeding the World

By Wolf Trax

We recognize the need to educate people on the enormous impact fertilizers have on sustaining world food production. This year, for the first time ever, the fertilizer industry will be celebrating Global Fertilizer Day. As an active participant in the following organizations – The Fertilizer Institute (TFI), Fertilizers Europe, Fertilizer Canada, International Fertilizer Association (IFA), and the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI) – Compass Minerals is excited to support this inaugural event.

There is no doubt that fertilizer usage is crucial for the future of our nutrition. Fifty percent of all food produced is attributed directly to fertilizer’s impact on yields. Fertilizers have helped revolutionize the sector, delivering nitrogen, phosphorus, and potash in every corner of the globe.

Even with all the fertilizer advancements, food sustainability remains a top global concern. The fundamental cause behind the Global Fertilizer Day is to encourage discussions regarding farming techniques fundamental to our future food supply.

Follow #FertilizerDay to take part in conversations about agricultural practices, research and innovation.

Our mission at Compass Minerals is simply to “help feed the world.” This goal aligns with the role our industry is tasked with: to feed a growing population. As a leader in the fertilizer industry, we are proud to support the celebration of the Global Fertilizer Day today and continue our steadfast dedication to the 4Rs of Nutrient Stewardship.
