Compatability Testing

These guidelines are provided for you to perform standard jar tests with common pesticide mixes. We have made some assumptions for standard applications. Please make adjustments which may be more relevant to your particular tank-mix.

Contents required:

  • 1 x 16 oz (473 ml) container w/ leak proof lid
  • 1 x 0.5 ml eye dropper
  • 1 x 1/8 teaspoon

Assumptions for this particular jar test:

  1. Water volume: 10 gallons/ac (~40L/ac)
  2. Wolf Trax application rate: 4 oz/ac (113 g/ac)
  3. Pesticide application rate: 1 pint/ac (473 ml/ac)
  4. Compatibility agent application rate: 1 pint/100 gallons water (473 ml/380 L)

Measurements for test:

  • Water – 1 gallon equates to 1 oz (1 oz = 30 ml)
  • Wolf Trax DDP Nutrients
    • Boron – 4 oz equates to ¼ teaspoon (or 2 x 1/8 teaspoon level)
    • Manganese & CropMix – 4 oz equates to 1/8 teaspoon
  • Pesticide – 1 pint equates to 4 ml
  • Compatibility agent – 1 pint/100 gal equates to .50 ml/10 oz

Performing the test:

Measure 10 oz of water in the 16 oz container provided (a 10 oz line has been pre-marked for your convenience). Add 1/8 teaspoon CropMix. Stir. Add 0.50 ml compatibility agent using the eye dropper provided. Stir. Add 4 ml of pesticide (or 8 full 0.5 ml eye droppers). Close lid and agitate.

Things to Look For:

  1. Flocculation
  2. Balling
  3. Fall-out

Based on your results, you should have a good idea of whether or not your chosen products are compatible. If you find any of the lookouts appearing in your first attempt you may have to experiment with different orders of addition or rate changes to make things work.
